A showcase of all the bosses in SNK's King of the Monsters 2.

This game was a request by the user RebellionGamester (or whatever name he goes by nowadays, he changes it a lot). Thanks to BlueDeity too for reminding me to cover this game, as I would have forgot otherwise.

King of the Monsters 2 (KOTM 2) was an oddity back when it was released, and it's an oddity now. The first game was a hybrid fighting game, being both a wrestling and a fighting game of sorts. This time however, the game is side-scrolling beat-em-up with wrestling elements, which also has a 2-player fighting mode tacked on. Talk about covering all your bases.

I actually got to play KOTM 2 many years back when I was still living in Dubai; there was an arcade machine at one of the ice-skating rinks there (yeah, ice-skating in a desert country, I didn't get it either), and the machine would switch between the demos of KOTM 2 and Super Strikers every few minutes or so, unless somehow was playing the machine itself. I don't think I've seen anything like it since, come to think of it.

The bosses themselves are in varying degrees of play-ability, but regardless they're all ultimately glitchy, and likely to crash the game at one point or another. Most A button attacks seem to free the game, while B button attacks work temperamentally or don't work at all. As a result of this, the best I could do was show to what extent each boss was playable, and little more. Yet another video for the sake of thoroughness, that's for sure, but might as well do it while I have the chance. The fact that these bosses are accessible in the first place is somewhat astounding, but earlier fighting games kept all character values even in the character addresses of the players, as we'll see when I cover Pit Fighter in the next few videos. Unfortunately, this trend didn't stick around, meaning that later boss-heavy fighting games such as Warzard and even Monster Maulers don't have accessible bosses, which is a dire shame. Still, I suppose we should be appreciative of the fact that we're able to access KOTM 2's bosses, despite how glitchy they might be.
