Part 58 of my 100% playthrough of Chrono Trigger on the Nintendo DS.

And we're back into the world of Chrono Trigger! Our save file may be cleared, but there's still one sidequest we can do, and in fact it couldn't be done before! For the records, we start back from our last save, which was just outside the final boss' room. After exiting the place, we start the Dimensional Vortex sidequest by entering the one in 12,000BC. Note that this sidequest is exclusive to the DS version of the game. You can read more explanations about the sidequest just below.

Upon completion of the game, a vortex opens up in 12,000 BC, 1000AD and 2300AD, for a total of 3 vortices. Each of them consists of a dungeon divided into two parts. The first part is made out of 5 rooms chosen at random from a pool of 8 showcasing previous zones in the game. It's normally impossible to see all 8 rooms in a single run through the dungeon, but for simplicity's sake, my playthrough will show all 8 rooms in succession.

After these rooms come a safe zone. Beyond that lies the second part of the dungeon, which consists of an unique environment with some chests carrying great gear and items scattered around. Finally, each vortex wraps everything up with a boss fight, granting some stat boosts on a particular character upon defeat.
