5LB filament spool insert.. when you go big! 3D printing magic for weeks
This is a filament spool insert I designed for the legendary bulk 5LB filament rolls from MatterHackers. They make 10LB spools too. PLA, ABS, and PETG. Their PLA pro series need a much higher than normal temp at 215c to 220c to extrude properly. You can find my spool insert on my Thingiverse portfolio here

(I'm doing that resistance modification so may be a few more days from publishing this video till I have it uploaded)
A lot of the current 5 lb filament roll mount systems I felt were a bit ridiculous, sometimes simple is better. So.. this insert makes use of a fixed shaft, bearings (for consistent movement along axis), a 1/2 rod from Home Depot or where ever, and a simple PLA (or whatever you want to use that's hard) 3D print. Although you can place as an Overhead Filament Spool Holder, I do not recommend mounting this to your printer. Your printer has enough issues (likely) with stiffness and resonance unless you paid bookoo bucks for it... so I recommend mounting off to the side to on your table, shelf, or whatever platform you placed your 3D printer on.
There is other another mount for matterhackers 5LB spools, 5lb Filament Spool Roller, that's what I'm referring to in the video. It's a very unstable design. Fixed shaft mounting is by far more reliable if done right. Enjoy!
Oh!.. that printer I was talking about that I saw pull a 5LB MatterHacker Pro PLA roll off the roller mount is a Raised3D N2 3D printer. The printer you see in the video is one of my Creality CR-10s machines which I've done some minor upgrades to.
