Want to stop Windows 10 Auto Restart? Here's a quick fix!
Edit:
So I guess Microsoft ignores this registry entry now because it no longer works as of the end of 2019. All other fixes do not seem to work either anymore. Still, no solution found as of 2021 and if it wasn't for the programs I use daily I would be using Linux full time instead. This has got to STOP @Microsoft

Here's a quick fix if you want to disable Windows 10 consumer editions auto restart feature after an auto update patch. It requires one change in windows registry by changing a 0 to a 1. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU and change the DWord 32 value of NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers from 0 to 1.
For Windows Enterprise you need to use the Local Group Policy Editor by typing Win + R, then gpedit.msc, enter, then got to Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - Windows Components - Windows Update and sort the table you see to the right by the setting setting column. Then find and double click on "No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations" and change the radio button from "Not Configured" to "Enabled" and press APPLY then OK.
This will prevent windows from automatically restarting your computer after it does an update. Instead you will have to now on manually restart to have important updates apply. This will protect your bitcoin and other cryptocurrency wallets from corrupting by a forced restart. As well as prevent other data corruption that happens with Windows 10 automatic forced restarts.
