Rock Paper Shotgun has a written Maneater review on the site - our colleague Nate thought less of it than we did. Your mileage will vary depending on what you want. Looking for a smart shark RPG? Forget about it. As our Maneater PC review shows, this game is a pretty dumb arcade lark, with lots of pointless things to collect, button mashing combat and, er, electric teeth. It’s not quite Goat Simulator silly, but there’s still room for a proper shark sim to be made.
Instead it whips by in a quick 12 hours - if you were wondering how long is Maneater, it’s not going to outlast a weekend. If you’re more interested in Maneater length, as in the shark… well, you can see for yourself in the video. Our Maneater impressions also look at the story, the enemy variety and the lack of mission variety - the big problem with the game is that there’s not a lot for the shark to do other than chomp and search for hidden objects on a map. We’re going to need a bigger yawn.
This Maneater PC gameplay is running on an RTX 2080 Ti, but you really don’t need anything like that kind of power to run it. We don’t know how Maneater PS4 or Xbox runs - you’ll need to search for a Maneater PS4 review for that - but we’d be surprised if it pushed the console. It’s hardly a looker. Oh, you’ll also want to invest in a controller. During our Maneater test the keyboard controls weren’t a natural fit.
We hope you enjoy this Man eater review. If you have any more questions about the game, pop them in the comments and Colm will try to answer them. And if you enjoyed this review, why not subscribe to Rock Paper Shotgun for more like it, or check out the other reviews linked throughout the video. If it’s interesting and on PC, we’ll do our best to cover it. Thanks for watching.
