Owned an Android smartphone all your life? Ensure you don't keep these 7 bad habits.

Do not charge your phone using a USB port

Do not charge using ordinary USB ports like USB ports on your laptop or desktop or other USB wall adapters. They send an incorrect voltage and current that does not charge your battery in the most appropriate manner which leads to battery life degradation.
Always use the designated charger and the USB cable that you get from the manufacturer in the box when you buy it for maximum battery life and battery protection.

Do not keep clearing your recent apps

Having recent apps open is a good thing. It makes sure that your most recent apps which are mostly your most frequently used apps launch quickly and you pick up where you left them. Now, when you close them all and try opening them again - it takes more time, uses more battery and it does not open where you left it. So unless your phone is really old and I suggest you give up that habit. Most new phones with 4 GB RAM or more are pretty good at RAM management.

Do not forget to backup your photos

Some of us do take a lot of pictures. And we think we can never lose our phones! But that’s not true However, you could lose your phone and all this pictures are gone forever. It’s a good idea to upload your pictures to cloud so that they are safe, secure and always available online. I depend on Google Photos and every week, I backup my pictures. You can also turn on back up and sync so that your pictures automatically sync up over wi-fi automatically.

Don’t install too many apps and then forget to uninstall the useless ones

People often complain about how their phones get slow and inefficient over a period of time. What they fail to realize is that sometimes they have a ton of apps that they are not using but their apps are using their smartphone. You got to get rid of them. Just re-visit your app drawer - and whatever you don’t like - just long tapp and hit uninstall. You will see a significant improvement in performance as well as battery life!

Do not leave your phone’s display on all the time. If you’re not using it, lock the screen.

There are 2 reasons to do that. The most obvious one is battery - display drains most of your battery. So the lesser its turned on, the longer your battery would last.
Another one is to do with AMOLED displays. If your display is an AMOLED display like OnePlus or Samsung phones have - keeping the display on unnecessarily will reduce the life of the blue pixels and your screen will start looking yellow sooner than it should. You don’t want that now do you!

Do not keep your phone straight up on the desk

The camera behind the phone is most prone to micro-scratches. You won’t even realize but over time your camera’s picture taking ability will deteriorate because every time you keep your phone, the glass layer that protects the camera lens gets an invisible micro-scratch. While you can’t protect it with a film because that would instantly ruin your camera’s capability but you could either get a thicker case that elevates the camera and avoids touching the surface. Or, you could keep your phone upside down - that way, only the front gets micro scratches which can be easily replaced with a change of protective layer.

Do not use button based Navigation

With most new phones shipping with Android pie and even some new Oreo based smartphones feature the new gesture based navigation. While it might not be turned on by default, but it is the best and the fastest way to use navigation keys and at the same time have the most display real-estate on your smartphone. Gesture based navigation clears your phone off the on-screen navigation keys and instead of tapping on specific zones, you just have to swipe - which is a lot easier and faster. You can only know this after you use it for a day or 2. Must try it out.
In case you don’t have this feature in your navigation settings - you’ll see a card on the top right corner of this video pointing to a video I made which helps install gesture based navigation on any Android smartphone.
