7nm Rome EPYC = Increased Mainstream CPU Core Count ? | AMD to Increase Profitability
AMD's Forrest Norrod has confirmed AMD will be aggresive with pursuing ROME which is rumored to have 48 and 64 core variants and will be based on Zen 2 7nm. On top of this, the analyst Cowen has raised it's price target to $21 from $18 and believes it can have a higher gross profit margin of 44% vs 37%.
This leads to further evidence that AMD will be increasing the core count for it's mainstream processor found in Ryzen 3000, much like earlier rumors that we would see 12-18 core variants of the CPU.
Phil Spencer confirms Microsoft will be increasing it's commitment to PC gaming, believing it has the widest audience and that they are the Windows gaming and can properly leverage the platform. They will be creating bespoke applications and programs for the PC platform.
