Wild Arms promised to be some kinda Western (yeehaw) flavored Japanese RPG; it sounded interesting so here I am checking it out!

*WARNING* These are going to be sets of EXTREMELY long videos. I do NOT recommend this as being easy to watch, though, I've seen worse RPGs for watchability. I'm uploading mainly for sake of posterity. It's also in 60 FPS, and I'm all for having copies up on YouTube in that format. Delve in as you see fit.

Alright, so after some teleportation stuffs we've reached Port Timney! This is totally a swashbuckling, rough-n-tumble kinda place! I mean, you blow up a crate with a bomb and a thief comes tumbling out!

So, I take a little time to master Trickster, a pretty cool move that lets you steal items and stuffs from enemies. Some baddies have fairly decent steals! You'll see me using this a lot. I take a trip back to Milama through teleportation gates that I thought would send me somewhere *new*. So... a reset was in order to save those keys!

And then we have a trip to some Maze of Death because a drunken sailor captain guy, Bartholomew, needs some kinda Crystal Bud to impress a girl or whatever. And apparently he has a Guardian Statue on his ship. But seriously, we're going to a MAZE OF DEATH over some drunk's passion? I 'unno man.

So yeah, went through the dungeon. Wasn't so bad, though, once the place starts to collapse I managed to stumble my way into a secret boss fight which is kinda cool. This Chaos guy(gal?) was kinda tricky compared to what I'd fought so far! I didn't realize it was optional until I finished the dungeon, so you can imagine my surprise! I still have trouble differentiating between true magic attacks and regular attacks... this makes countering magics hard to pull off. Silence was a bother, too. Anyway, beating Chaos got me the Death Rune which gives a really nice boost to magicks.

Then we have more drunken sailor stuffs with a false wedding, the worst of the worst happens Guardians-wise, and the demons learn that the Mother they've been reviving has other more ravenous plans...

Oh! We also got the Magic Wand which lets us talk to animals. For whatever reason, the ship guys had it. Yeah. Probably will come in useful.

This was downloaded from the PlayStation Store and is being played on a PS3, so it's the PSN version. I am also recording it in 60 frames per second and the game is indeed running at that speed for most of the time -always a treat! Not in the 3D battle scenes, though! Those are in 30 frames per second; y'know, the standard rate we're all used to.

I'm all for playing on original systems when available, but I'd figure that the PS3 can manage a PS1 game though it's not using the same hardware. And it can! Mostly. There's one very odd glitch that happens every so often in which the music totally craps out and gets all muffled and weird. I think the first time it happens is when you get a cutscene with the game's villains discussing their schemes. It'll switch back to normal if you cycle areas/the music, but it happens a bit too often for my liking. Apart from that, this is a fine rendition of the game (as far as I know.)
