8032 SP9000 Model 9000 - Swapping In A 6502 CPU To Test The Circuit Board Danger Cord - Episode 1436
The power cord on this machine is...well...unique...soldered onto the connector...with an extreme possibility of a dead short...so, we must be careful...but I can test nothing on the board until I put a 6502 chip into it...and so, I will steal one from the 4032 and see what is what...I am pretty sure I know the answer to that question already...but I have to try!
It is time to test the monitor on what was a SuperPET...and of course document things...and get ready for the next machine...things are getting cramped in here...but I gotta keep checking, figuring, and moving forward!
Gathering up all the parts to a SuperPET are essential to ever getting it to work again, and indeed. freezer bags are great for this and just about the right size...for the smaller bits, sandwich bags are good, and you just have to be careful and get them all...everything...screws, connectors, switches, cables, ribbon cables, everything...and then we will see about testing the monitor...I would suspect!
I am starting to go through all the PET's...and this one was next...It says it is an 8032, but according to the sticker on the back it is indeed a 9000 model, which is a SuperPET! But this one was indeed filthy and rat infested inside...so the chances of it working are about zip...but the two extra layers of circuit boards have got to come out so they can be tested on another machines...there is not much to getting them out...just take it slow...and do not force anything...and of course, keep track of all the screws, legs, cables, chips, switches, etc, etc, etc...without them, you will never be able to get it properly tested down the road!
