***UPDATE 03/17/19*** The M30 2.4g 2.0 beta firmware, which 8BitDo has sent to me, totally resolves the connection issues.

I'm hosting them here for anyone that needs them. Please use at your own discretion, and (for legal reasons) I can't be held responsible if something goes wrong during the process, but this worked perfectly for me on all 3 of my controllers and 3 receivers. Just make sure you copy the correct DAT file to either the controller or receiver. They are labeled and the directions are simple to follow.

I'm not sure if this controller or receiver is defective or what, but I'm getting multiple seconds worth of lag for some reason. I was using whatever amount of battery power was left on the controller when it shipped, so I've decided to let it charge overnight, and I'll try again tomorrow.

The hardware is a Genesis Model 1, with original Sega A/C adapter, and connected to a Wega CRT with a pair of HD Retrovision component cables.

If anyone has noticed this issue please leave me a comment below.
