▶ Info & Links
To always be one step ahead of any potential hackers/malware/etc., everyone reading this should do the following, at their own leisure/pace/order:
1. Check your e-mails https://haveibeenpwned.com/com/ regularly for potential breaches that may require you to change certain passwords around the internet before it may be too late.
2. https://www.virustotal.com/com/ to scan suspicious links, e-mails, IPs, files, etc.
(bookmarking both these links could save you in terms of everything from accounts to time to money etc.)
3. Make sure your Windows is up to date (for security reasons as they do roll out security updates quite often).
4. Check that your Windows Defender is up and running appropriately with everything turned on.
5. Have at least one more separate antivirus set up (I recommend either Malwarebytes or ESET Smart Security).
6A. From time to time, perform some manual scans via any of the following free apps:
(direct and automatic download)
Kaspersky Virus Removal Toohttps://devbuilds.s.kaspersky-labs.com/devbuilds/KVRT/latest/full/KVRT.exeo...
Comodo Cleaning Essentialhttp://download.comodo.com/cce/download/setups/cce_x64.zipo...
Emsisoft Emergency Kihttps://dl.emsisoft.com/EmsisoftEmergencyKit.exeg...
Norton Power Erasehttps://buy-download.norton.com/downloads/premium_services/NPE/x64/prod/NPE.exel...
HitmanPrhttps://files.surfright.nl/HitmanPro_x64.exe_...
(manual download required)
Rogue Killer (scroll down and choose the Portable versionhttps://www.adlice.com/roguekiller/#alt_downloada...
Adlice Diag (same as with Rogue Killer, scroll down and choose the Portable versionhttps://www.adlice.com/diag/#alt_downloadn...
6B. For the more advanced users, I highly recommend:
Autorunhttps://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns#downloads...
and of course
Trohttps://www.reddit.com/r/TronScript/comments/1d2sbp2/tron_v1207_20240528_remove_sophos_fix/ix
7. For those of you like me who are still on Windows 10, make sure to transition to Windows 11 before October 14th 2025 (next year) as Microsoft will cease support for Windows 10 after that date.
(you can still continue to use Windows 10 after October 14th 2025, but it will no longer be supported and will leave you vulnerable to potential malware etc.)
And finally, always remember that no matter how safe you think you are at any given time, some hackers/malware/etc. can sit in hibernate-mode for months or even years inside a device before the hackers decide to finally strike or before the malware is finally activated by the original user (just one example of many, showing the possibilities of circumventing net security).
