[A] Learning From Frustration, Failure & Relapse
[A] Suitable for listeners of any gender. Contains no roleplay elements. Whilst relapse is gently talked about, there is no mention of specific addictions or issues and nothing should be triggering.
Here's a video I've been wanting to do for a while; an educational audio about frustration, progress, growth, failure and relapse. I decided to try something a little different this time and use a videogame to illustrate some concepts as I speak, though my focus is more on talking and there are times where I'm not really playing. I provide a gentle, accessible breakdown of frustration and its function, talk about some examples, and talk about how we can learn and grow from failures and relapse. I then demonstrate these concepts by playing a notoriously difficult game "Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy", a game about climbing a mountain using a sledgehammer. I experience several setbacks and frustrations, demonstrating how to handle them in a healthy and constructive manner, and how to learn from the experience. I also talk about two different kinds of progress we're making in this journey, the myth of King Sisyphus, and fixed vs growth mindsets. I hope you'll find this video helpful and enjoyable!
