Bioshock (2007) is a first-person shooter developed by 2K Boston (later Irrational Games) and 2K Australia. The game is set in 1960, and follows Jack as he discovers the underwater city of Rapture and all of its secrets. Built by a business magnate Andrew Ryan with the intention of creating a utopia, they discovered a genetic material (ADAM) that granted superhuman abilities. This discovery also lead to the city's turbulent decline into madness.

Jack attempts to escape, fighting ADAM-obsessed enemies (Splicers) and Big Daddies, while engaging the few remaining "sane" (depending on who you ask...) humans that remain in Rapture. As Jack, you utilize weapons, plasmids and hacking of Rapture's defenses to make your way through the utopia and find your way to the truth.
