Welcome to the Couch Knights' Let's Play of Spec Ops: The Line. Spec Ops: The Line is a third-person-shooter game developed by Yager Development and published by 2K Games. It is the 10th title and reboot to the Spec Ops series, with Spec Ops: Airborne Commando having been released back in 2002. The Line follows the reconnaissance mission led by Captain Martin Walker and his Delta Force team, but as the story progresses both the team and the player themselves are in for more than they bargained for. The game takes inspiration from Heart of Darkness and Apocalypse Now, forcing the player to make morally grey decisions, causing a sense of unease for those hoping to be entertained by war's grim realities. The Line also features a number of mechanics involving sand (as it is found in gratuitous volumes), allowing players to use it as an advantage, and occasionally as a threat. Overall, it seems that Spec Ops: The Line promises fast-paced gameplay, bringing a sense of urgency with ammo shortage and unnerving moral choices, all tied in with occasional jabs at the player themselves to make for what TJ describes as "a different breed of horror game."
