TRANSCRIPT:

Hey Omahdarlins, how are y’all? Got something I wanted to say which may affect the future of the Overwatch AWNN as well as its past and honestly present as well. All time periods.

I’d like to apologise for the audio quality, I’m actually recording this on my phone as I’m currently away from all my regular recording equipment and workstation setup; hence the reason why the video is prolly going to be some random thing, prolly when I was opening up a whole bunch of Overwatch lootboxes? Something Overwatch related anyway.

So I have something I wanted to clarify, given the recent absolute breakdown in communication from various content creators on Youtube regarding some of the shadier parts of their production. The biggest example right now, of course, being the Channel Awesome meltdown; but the example that is more pertinent in my case would be Kyotosomo and his comic dubs and how that whole situation is shaking down. I’m not going to get into it here, if you want to read more about both situations check out the links in the description below.

But enough with the preamble, what did I want to clarify you may be wondering. To put it simply: I have monetised every comic dub I have ever made in the Overwatch AWNN series and several other comic dubs. Now, while I did ask for and was granted permission by the comic creators to dub their comics, I never did ask if I could also monetise the resulting comic dub on Youtube.

I didn’t think it was a problem because 1) I didn’t think and b) I also paid the comic artists and voice actors who helped bring those dubs to life, and was using the money earned from Youtube to do that. Also used it for stuff like my annual soundsnap subscription for SFX and Patreon-ing Kevin Macleod because most of the OW AWNN soundtrack is by him (seriously its amazing how many different styles and moods he can write for).

ANYWAY, I thought because I shared some of the Youtube monied love around with everyone I pulled into the Overwatch AWNN, we’d all be good right? Wrong. I should have asked the comic creators if they’d be okay with my monetising the comic dub in the first place and given them the opportunity to opt out of that if they wanted. So that’s what I’ll be doing from here onwards when I get in contact with artists about dubbing their comics, and also I’ll be getting in contact with the artists I’d worked with before to see if they’re cool with my monetising the dubs that are already on here and work out what to do there.

So I’ll get to doing that… probably after my tour of Portugal and Spain is over. Sorry, this is my first ever trip to Europe and I wanted to enjoy it, but this whole thing was eating me up inside and I didn’t want this situation of mine to get ugly before I got a chance to speak about it, so here I am to speak about it. And now I have finished speaking about it. For now. Yes.

Okay bye!
