A metallic vessel having a shape that is a combination of a hemisphere and a truncated cone is placed on the ground in a position as shown in the figure. ' C ' is the centre of curvature of the hemispherical part of the vessel. The height of the truncated conical part is less than the radius of curvature of the hemispherical part of the vessel.
(i) Locate the centre of gravity of the vessel.
(ii) What is the state of equilibrium of the vessel in the position shown?
(iii) When the vessel is left in the position shown, what is the effect of the forces acting on the vessel? Discuss.
