Hello everyone! More and more demos, and more and more metroidvanias. This time I am playing the demo for the upcoming Kingdom Shell. I have to admit, I am not too much into minimalist games, and I am not too much into retro-games, even when I play a lot of 2d games. And this is not the exception. The pixel design of the zones is really nice looking, but the movement and animations are not my cup of tea. I didn't like how simplistic is the combat system (so far) nor the enemy design.
With that being said, something that I really have to compliment is the bosses design. It is great for this kind of game. They are hard enough, they don't feel unfair, and they have different set of moves, so they don't start to feel repetitive (also, they have the best animations so far in the game). A really awesome job they did there. It is a shame that I couldn't find a saving spot between two bosses, which for me wasn't fun, so I just stopped playing.
