According to https://www.speedrun.com/a_monsters_expedition#Any this is the current fastest completion of A Monster's Expedition. The previous record of 4:12 used a different route that visits many fewer islands by performing two sequence breaks: one to go north to the beach area, and a second to go straight to the last few seconds of the game.

The route I used for this run plays more of the game as intended, and instead uses my windmill skip and associated 50 island route, with a small improvement. Instead of needing to send the raft down and mailbox warp to it (requiring an extra raft trip and undo), I instead do a little extra shuffling northwest of the windmill to ride down myself. This run is almost definitely much better played than the 4:12, and I suspect that route will end up much faster than this route, but I wanted to see how far my windmill route could go. It turns out, sub 4 is possible with this route but I'm content with the execution on this 4:07, especially as this route is something I came up with entirely on my own.
