A Raspberry Pi powered KVM device... under $500?! Yes please!
The PiKVM project is a seriously nice piece of kit that allows you to control a connected device remotely over the internet or even your LAN.
KVMs are mostly used as a means to access servers remotely in the event of a server malfunction or reconfiguration and allow you to emulate keyboard and mouse input as well as mount USB devices (Virtual CD-ROM drives, for example). Enterprise KVM solutions can cost large sums of money, but the PiKVM can do what the basic enterprise ones do without much sweat.
