I was feeling useless in this whole coronavirus thing, and then I stumbled upon a little something we can all do to help!

Folding@Home is a project for simulating protein dynamics, started at Stanford, but now a collaboration between many laboratories.
Currently, there are projects investigating SARS-CoV-2 more closely, which will help in both understanding it more and targeting it better with tailored drugs.

So, what can you do? Well, Folding@Home works as a distributed supercomputer, where lots of users give some computing power! So this is the thing; if you have some spare CPU or GPU time (like an old laptop, or overnight on your main computer, or even a PS3) you can download the software and contribute to this massive computer cluster.
More information and download links are available here:
https://foldingathome.org/
(More unbiased info about the project here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folding@home)

I now have this on both my "fun computer" and my work laptop, leaving one doing protein simulations while I'm on the other one.

Please, check this out. It's may not look like much, but it's one tiny way to help with the battle against Covid-19.

If you wish to join the PhysicsGamers team, the team number that you get prompted for is 264484.
Or you can join some other team, or start your own!

This video is just meant to spread the word about this software and the research it is used for. No pressure either way. But now you know it exists!

Let me know in the comments if you have questions or troubles getting it to work, and I'll help
