a turn based strategy game by Nordcurrent Labs (Trying Out Chains of Freedom)
Played Chains of Freedom by Nordcurrent Labs (thanks for the game key!!)
Chains of Freedom is an isometric strategy game with turn-based combat.
I was going to compare it to XCOM 2, but a more fitting comparison is Baldur’s Gate 3, especially when it comes to exploration and the combat system.
You can freely explore Chains of Freedom's linear levels, engaging enemies that transition you and your party into a turn-based combat scenario.
Exploration lets you unlock new paths and find various loot—like weapons, gear, consumables, and crafting materials.
Party members can equip different primary and secondary weapons, along with consumables in quick slots such as health kits, bombs, and more.
Chains of Freedom also has a good mix of enemy types, which keeps combat feeling varied and interesting.
Chains of Freedom is set in a mutation-ridden dystopian world. It’s not the most original setting on paper, but the way it’s presented is really cool—so it works for me!
I’ve only finished Chains of Freedom's first chapter, Shattered Skies, but I’m definitely looking forward to the rest of the game and its story.
The game has a demo, so check it out here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2994010/Chains_of_Freedom/
