Vito and his family managed to reach the United States before World War 2 escalated in their homeland Italy. However Vito finds the American Dream doesn't live up to its name as his family and other immigrants are forced to live in the slums and harassed by the Mafia that rules the area.


Vito was then arrested when a robbery with his best friend went bad, but luckily he was thrown into the U.S. Army because of his fluent Italian language and took part of the operation in taking Italy back.
