Welcome back, Richest fans! Every nation around the world wants to have the biggest and best military at their disposal. Due to this, they will spend fortunes on projects in order to achieve this goal. Yet for every successful programme that closes the gap to this target, there are just as many cancelled projects that they’d rather we didn’t know about. Some of which are worth billions of dollars! And the US Military is no different! Today, we’re going to look at the US’ most expensive abandoned projects that were cancelled. We’ll see just how much money they cost, and why they decided to cut the expensive programme.
Now for the spoiler paragraph. If you like surprises, we suggest you stop reading and watch the video multiple times. Firstly, we have a project seemingly inspired from the realm of sci-fi, the Airborne Laser, and its amazing defensive ability. Next, we have the RAH-66 Comanche Helicopter that didn’t quite take off. We’ll then examine the XM2001 Crusader Self-Propelled Howitzer. With the plan to modernise the military, we have the project known as Future Combat Systems. There’s the US Marines’ brainchild, the Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle. We’ll then examine the E-10 Airplane created by Northrop Grumman. We have the US Air Force with their special Environmental Satellite that was meant to make their job easier. We have the special VH-71 Presidential Helicopter that wasn’t quite the finished product that was expected. Finally, we have the US Navy with their project, the CG(X) Next Generation Cruiser.
