Abusing Lottery Tickets for Easy Gold in Dragon Warrior II (NES) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #shorts

Okay this isn't exactly a glitch. It's more of an exploit, but I count those, baybee! In Dragon Warrior II for the NES (aka Dragon Quest 2 for the Famicom) there's a real easy trick you can abuse right at the beginning of the game to earn a whole lot of gold without much effort. Here's what you do:

As soon as your game begins, grab the chest from the King of Midenhall containing a Copper Sword and 50 gold. That's about all the money you'll need to get started.

Now walk west to the city of Leftwynne and immediately begin buying Antidote Herbs from the item shop. The Antidote Herbs cost 8 gold each, and any time you purchase an item from this vendor, there is a one in six chance he will give you a free Lottery Ticket.

Lottery Tickets can be used in the lottery game, obviously, but your chances of winning a prize (or at least one worth winning) is slim. Instead, you can sell those Lottery Tickets right back to the merchant for 53 gold each.

Furthermore, every Antidote Herb you buy can be sold right back to the item shop for 6 gold, so if you buy one for 8 gold and he doesn't give you a lottery ticket, you're really only losing 2 GP on that transaction.

So as long as you get at least one Lottery Ticket for every 26 Antidote Herbs you purchase, you will make money, and that would take some remarkably bad luck. Therefore, you can generally buy Antidote Herbs, then sell all your Antidote Herbs AND your Lottery Tickets right back to the item vendor, and you will be able to make some real easy money!

This is theoretically an infinite money trick, but it would take a real long time to get to max money this way. But getting to about 1,000 gold won't take too long, and that's all you need to get the best equipment at level 1.
