ABXY | Social Deduction Meets Creature Combat | Overview/How To Play
ABXY is a competitive 2-player simultaneous action selection game. Players use hand-picked teams to battle until one player runs out of team members or gives up. The game is easy to learn, quick to play, and challenging to master.
I hope you're ready for a fast-paced, 2-player, simultaneous action selection game inspired by the legendary battles from our favorite monster training RPGs. With just 4 button cards and 6 creature cards each, you'll need wit, insight, and strategy to defeat your opponent.
ABXY was designed for advanced competitive tournament play. In a happy accident, it turns out to be a game capable of serving up an experience as competitive or casual as its players desire.
The cornerstones of the game's design are:
Simultaneous Play: ABXY simulates action-packed battles where decisions have to be made on the fly without knowing what orders your opponent is handing out until they're already being executed. This also means that, unlike in many other card combat games, there is no first- or second-player advantage.
Public Information: Other than the buttons you select, there is nothing in ABXY that is secret from your opponent. All special abilities, combatants, and options are plain to see by both players. There's no secret "gotcha!" cards, no hidden powers, no surprise effects. Simply outplay your opponent or learn to accept defeat.
Simple Mechanics: When a creature is damaged, flip over the card. When it is damaged again, remove the card from the game. If two creatures are attacking one another, the one that weighs less goes first. Almost anyone can become proficient at ABXY after their first match.
