The King of Fighters '94, the first in a long series of team-based vs. fighting games by SNK, and my favorite series even over Capcom's Street Fighter. This begins the first mighty crossover of many popular characters that hailed from Fatal Fury/Garou Densetsu, Art of Fighting/Ryuuko No Ken, Ikari Warriors, and Psycho Soldier. Even brand new characters like Brian Battler, Heavy D!, and Lucky Glauber from the USA Sports Team join the fray.
Rugal Bernstein has invited the strongest fighters from all around the world to compete in a 3-on-3 tournament for large amount of prize money. The winner faces off against Rugal himself in a life or death battle. On a personal level, I'll tell you right here and now, KOF '94 is the one game that I'm awful at, due to the classic input reading A.I. and stiff, awkward controls. Try to get fancy with special moves and watch the CPU pretty much counter, block, or evade it with perfect timing.
I've owned and played almost every King of Fighters game up to XII, but this entry was challenging at best and monotonous at worst. I had to resort to cheap tactics to get through the game, so please don't expect high level skills. That's like expecting Andy to marry Mai, (and we all know THAT will never happen).
