Released in 1997 for the PS1, Ace Combat 2 is the second console instalment in the critically acclaimed Ace Combat series.

The game was developed and published by Namco, and was designed to overcome the technical limitations faced by its predecessor (1995's Air Combat). Developer Masanori Kato was particularly interested in improving the game's graphics, and getting as much out of the original PlayStation as possible.
