Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War - Unused dummy/test aircraft (?)
Best viewed at 60fps.
Last year I managed to force the game load some sort of test/dummy aircraft by editing the value in the memory address that control what plane gets loaded when selecting one in the hangar. I already did a video about this previously (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSkQRLT0gnc) but sometime after this finding I also figured how to restore a peculiarity of this "aircraft" by editing the XYZ coordinates of cockpit camera.
As you can see in the video, this dummy/test aircraft is the only plane to have an almost fully modelled cockpit and pilot inside it unlike the rest of the available planes in Zero (and very likely in the entire Holy Trinity). Sadly, this cockpit cannot be interacted with and the control stick won't move either. Still, it's kinda interesting that at some point in the game's development they thought about adding almost fully detailed cockpits and the body of the pilot, adding an extra bit of realism to the game. What could have made Project Aces scrap this feature? Not really sure to be honest.
Besides the cockpit, there is also the airframe of this "aircraft", which consists of two spheres using a texture divided in two colors, black and white. I assume that this was likely to test collisions and the like.
Sadly, it's arsenal is all fucked up and don't really work at all. The gun won't fire it's rounds and the SPW is also locked out from lauching, leaving only the standard missiles as the only way to counterattack. Looking at the files for this plane, it seems that it's default SPW loadout is SAAM/UGB/RCT, the same as one used by the J35J Draken.
Speaking of the Draken, this aircraft shares the same movement stats with it, so basically this plane is a J35J with the cockpit of a F-16C tacked on it and its whole airframe being just two spheres. Pretty crazy, isn't it?.
Well, I think that's all. Hopefully I will release the guide to use this aircraft as well a small patch/script to adjust the cockpit camera so it can be used without any issues once I'm done with some things. You will find this guide on my Twitter so make you follow me so you can be notified when it's ready ;^).
Btw, sorry for cheating at the laser section. The aircraft is slow as shit and I got killed a lot of times by the laser due to this so I just almost skipped the entire section by increasing my speed.
