Cannon Fodder è un videogioco d'azione sviluppato dalla Sensible Software. Il videogioco venne sviluppato per i computer Amiga ma in seguito venne portato per quasi tutti i sistemi attivi all'epoca. La serie ha un semplice modello di gioco: i soldati visti dall'alto dell'azione vengono mossi in piccoli gruppi su un ampio campo di battaglia che può scorrere in tutte le direzioni e sono in sostanza "carne da cannone", da qui il nome del gioco. Lo slogan del primo gioco era "War has never been so much fun" ("La guerra non è mai stata così divertente") mentre il secondo episodio utilizzava come slogan "War has only been this fun once before" ("Solo un'altra volta la guerra è stata così divertente").

Cannon Fodder is an action shoot 'em up game developed by Sensible Software and published by Virgin Interactive Entertainment for the Amiga in 1993. Virgin ported the game to home computer systems MS-DOS, the Atari ST and the Archimedes, and the consoles Jaguar, Mega Drive, SNES and 3DO. The game is military-themed and based on shooting action with squad-based tactics. The player directs troops through numerous missions, battling enemy infantry, vehicles and installations.
Cannon Fodder has a darkly humorous tone which commentators variously praised and condemned. Its creators intended it to convey an anti-war message, which some reviewers recognised, but the Daily Star and a number of public figures derided the game. In other respects, reviewers highly praised the game, which widely achieved scores of over 90% in Amiga magazines. Amiga Action awarded it an unprecedented score, calling it the best game of the year.
