Configuring Server 2019
--------------------------------------------------------------------
01. Install Microsoft Server 2019 (https://youtu.be/_1zBK93RxY4)
02. Log in with an account with admin priviliges
03. Set the server name
a. Click the Start button ≫ Type control panel ≫ press Enter
b. Click View By ≫ Small Icons
c. Click System
d. Click Advanced System Settings in the top left
e. Select the Computer Name tab
f. Click the change button
g. Enter the new computer name ≫ Click OK
h. When prompted to reboot, choose Restart Later
12. Set a static IP address
a. Back in Control Panel, select Network and Sharing Center
b. Click Change adapter settings
c. Right click on the network connection ≫ Properties
d. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) ≫ Properties
e. Click the Use the following IP address option
f. Enter a static IP address, subnet mask and gateway
g. Enter DNS addresses
h. Click OK to all open dialog windows and close Control Panel
21. Reboot the server for the name change to take effect

Installing Active Directory

01. After the reboot, launch Server Manager if it does not automatically load
02. Click Add roles and features
03. Click Next on the Before you begin screen
04. Select Role-based or feature-based installation ≫ Next
05. Leave Select a server from the server pool selected and select the current Server2019 server ≫ Next
06. Check the Active Directory Domain Services box
07. A popup will appear with additional required roles and features, click the Add Features button
08. Click Next
09. Click Next on the Select features screen
10. Click Next on the Active Directory Domain Services screen
11. Click Install on the confirmation screen
12. Leave the installation progress screen open until the install completes

Configuring Active Directory

01. Back in Server Manager, click the flag with the caution icon in the upper right corner
02. Click Promote this server to a domain controller
03. Select Add a new forest and enter the desired domain name, ie i12bretro.local ≫ Click Next
04. Verify Domain Name System (DNS) server and Global Catalog (GC) are checked
05. Enter and confirm a Directory Services Restore Mode (DSRM) password ≫ Click Next
06. On the DNS Options page, click the Change button and enter credentials for a local administrator account ≫ Click Next
07. Verify or modify the NetBIOS domain name ≫ Click Next
08. Leave the AD DS paths as default ≫ Click Next
09. Click Next on the Review Options screen
10. After the prerequisite check completes, click the Install button
11. Once the installation completes the server will reboot
12. After rebooting, log back into the server
13. Welcome to your very own Active Directory server
