When I was younger, I always had trouble determining where the next openings would be, even knowing that the level of the pitches indicate the next opening. Today I still do, and tend to bump into the top or bottom parts of the openings a lot. Dolphin is one of the girlier games of the Atari 2600 library. After all, dolphins are considered girly and one winning over a tough squid is something that a little girl would be happy about.

From the manual: "Guide your dolphin through openings in the seahorse schools by listening to sonic tunes and catching waves. Periodically, a seagull will fly overhead. Have your dolphin leap up, touch the seagull and then quickly turn and touch the squid.

Listen to the sonic tunes. The higher the tone, the higher up the opening will be in the upcoming school of seahorses. A lower tone means that the next opening will be lower on your screen."

This is my most perfect run of Dolphin ever! Not in terms of swimming through the openings of the school of seahorses, but in terms of touching seagulls. I caught seagulls in my first tries a lot here and touched the squid with them, too.
