#AD Wonder Boy Dragon's Trap Sequence Break: Flying Piranha-Man to Castle 2nd visit before Hawk-Man
Labelled as #AD as I was given a Switch Game Key from Dotemu. This video is not a paid sponsor.
It's technically an old trick but here are 2 reasons why it wasn't uploaded until now.
1) Master System 1989 version runs at 30 frames per second so less mashing was required. Not to be confused with 8-bit style running at 60 frames, I'm talking about the non-2017 release.
2) I've managed to keep flying to the right direction instead of flying the left.
3) On consoles that have more than 1 movement option (think Left stick and D-pad), the Wii Classic Controller is easy to pull off, just hold left on the left stick and MASH right on the D-pad, Switch Joy-con can do this very well.
The HD remake tweaked the direction priority from Right to Left. This means I had to rotate 90 degrees to the left on my controller and used my left thumb on the right D-pad button and with my right thumb, MASHED the left D-pad button.
Usually, the direction that gets mashed tends to be the main direction for flying... until during this recording I've managed to get Piranha-Man to fly to the right, which is harder than it looks.
TL: DR - More button mashes and flying to the right is harder to do.
How does it work?
In swimming mode, whenever you change direction underwater, the character rises up a little, if you change direction super fast, you can rise out of the water and fly. It does require good mashing and some sort of rhythm to fly towards a certain direction.
This trick is not used at all for runs using the transformation Tasmanaian Sword because Lion-Man's Muramasa Sword is a powerful weapon and can take out the last 2 Dragons without problems.
It also takes a little bit longer to fly to the other side than the Master System version so I think it gets ignored in lower difficulty runs not using the Tasmanian Sword.
