Adamantoise Go Bye-Bye
0Just randomly showing off. I knew of this trick LONG before I even got this game, but I wanted to show that it is possible just after Chapter 11, when you first get Death.
Here's my strategy:
-I set my Paradigms as SAB, SAB, SYN and SAB, SAB, SAB. I used Vanille, Fang and Hope. Fang because she's a Lv 4 Sab, and Hope for Haste and his high magic stat. Hope can easily be replaced with Sazh if he hasn't learned Haste yet. (and if Sazh hasn't learned Haste either, something's very, VERY wrong with you.) It helps if your SYN is at least capable of being a SAB, as having more SABs in the party boosts Death's success rate.
-Giving Vanille two Whistlewind Scarfs (for ATB recovery +10%) helps. If you have an Auto-Haste item, GIVE IT TO HER NOW. (In that case, you won't need a SYN, so start off in SAB, SAB, SAB) I didn't, so that's why I needed Hope.
-Once in battle, IMMIDIATELY summon Hecatonchier. If you don't do this, YOU WILL DIE. Just summoning him is enough to knock the Adamantoise down, so just go into Gesalt and use your ultimate attack to get rid of him.
-Now the Death-spamming begins. If Fang has learned DeProtect and DeShell, you can leave all the debuffing to her and just have Vanille focus on casting Death repeatedly. It only has a 1% chance initially, and it increases by 1 for every Debuff. At best, it'll have Deprotect, Deshell, Imperil, Curse, Slow and sometimes Daze. So that's 7%. Still low, which is why you need Haste to make sure you get as many chances as possible. If you let the Adamantoise stand up again, you are dead. This will probably take a few tries.
I've also included Mission 63. Note that the mark is an AdamanTORtoise, the only differences are it has less HP, is easier to stagger and is a bit more resistant to Debuffs. That last one means you need to change your strategy a bit: Vanille needs to get in on the Debuffing herself, otherwise it'll take much longer to hit that 7%.
