ADG Episode 24 - Doom
Episode Originally Released: November 13th, 2010
------------------------------------------
You know, not a lot of people really take a good look at this game anymore. I suppose because we've all heard about it so many times in the past that we no longer feel like talking about it. I felt that was the PERFECT reason why to bring it up again and present my own thoughts and opinions on the controversies this game has generated over the years, while at the same time giving it my usual once-over.
Of course, with a more modern reboot of the Doom series out now, everyone's been talking about both it and the original game again. :B

Additional Information and Corrections:
* The Ulimate Doom is now available on GOG! You can get it from here: http://www.gog.com/game/the_ultimate_doom/?pp=91dfde1d6e005e422f64a59776234f1f4c80b5e4
* Steam must've swapped the links at some point. The original link I posted for The Ultimate Doom now points to Final Doom: http://store.steampowered.com/app/2290 , thus if you want The Ultimate Doom on Steam instead of from GOG, click your way here instead: http://store.steampowered.com/app/2280
* The 'F' in "BFG" does actually stand for the swear word in the original design docs, but the documentation included with the game calls it "Fragging". I guess it's apt to say that one term is more official, while the other is more colloquial.
* The link to the webpage on the ESA website doesn't work anymore... dunno where to find that particular resource now... :/
* As I mentioned in the video, the various source ports are usually better to play than the originals, but I wanted to quickly point out that virtually all of the source ports need nothing more than the WAD files to run properly, which means they work with more recent releases such as the Steam release. ;)
* Found this out over a year after this episode went live, but for those of you who have Doom without the Ultimate Doom upgrade, there's actually a free patch which brings Doom 1.9 up to The Ultimate Doom! The actual patch file is "19_udpat.exe" and while there's a number of places you could grab this from, just in case you're not already updated to v1.9 you can find all the Doom patches here: http://www.gamers.org/pub/games/idgames/idstuff/doom/
