Adobe Illustrator - How to use Scale Tool in Adobe Illustrator - TipShip
To use the Scale tool in Adobe Illustrator, follow these steps:
Launch Adobe Illustrator and open the document you want to work on.
Select the object you want to scale. You can use the Selection Tool or any other selection tool to do this.
Activate the Scale tool. You can find it in the Tools panel on the left side of the Illustrator interface. It looks like a square with an arrow pointing diagonally.
With the Scale tool selected, click and drag on the canvas to create a bounding box around the selected object. The bounding box will have handles at its corners and edges.
To scale proportionally, hold down the Shift key while dragging any of the corner handles. This ensures that the object maintains its original aspect ratio.
To scale non-proportionally, you can drag any of the corner handles without holding down the Shift key. This allows you to resize the object horizontally or vertically independently.
If you want to scale from a specific point, you can click inside the bounding box and drag it around while holding down the mouse button. The object will scale relative to the point where you clicked.
To enter specific scaling values, you can use the Transform panel. Go to Window Transform to open the Transform panel. In the panel, you can enter values for Width and Height, or you can click on the "Uniform" chain icon to ensure the object scales proportionally.
Once you're satisfied with the scaling, release the mouse button to apply the changes.
You can also use the Scale tool in combination with other transformation tools, such as Rotate or Reflect, to achieve more complex transformations.
Remember to practice and experiment with the Scale tool to get a better understanding of its capabilities and how it affects your artwork.
