This is the first time I think that the AI has really baffled me. I'm fine with the occasional unit charging in to get a good attack in only to get destroyed, ok with the fact that CO Powers and Super Powers are held back until a better time, happy that the AI doesn't cheat in Fog, but here? This is a siege map where holding back will spell doom even for a good player so the AI going up and down in circles does not make any sense. My experience of the original Adder charging in and threatening a rout does not help but even without that I would probably still be confused why my Recons and Artillery can move up in a Challenge Campaign map.
