Update 12/02/18:
A combination of cleaning the MAP sensor and the intake temp sensor ending up resolving this.
I first cleaned the MAP sensor only and the same thing still happened, disappointed and not thinking it would do anything, I pulled out the air filter pipe and cleaned it out and also cleaned the intake temp sensor thoroughly with MAF cleaner. I've driven the car for a good 30Kms now with no check engine lights and it's running fine.
