Air Combat Walkthrough Part 1: Destroy Enemy Supply Lines (INTRO & FIRST MISSION)
0After a month of GTA content on the channel, it's time to return to PS1 with some brand new games on the channel. The first game of such variety is the game that spawned most well-known combat flight simulator series in the world. The game in question is Air Combat.
About Game: Air Combat is 1995 arcade-style combat flight simulator videogame developed and published by Namco as PlayStation 1 exclusive with a mobile version developed by Namco being released exclusively in Japan in 2005. It is a console version of Namco's arcade game of the same name released in 1992 that was comissioned when it became obvious that Namco's intended console port of the arcade game wouldn't be able to replicate its gameplay. As the result of this, story, presentation, gameplay and graphics are drastically different in PS1 version in comparison to the original arcade. Upon release, this game was a commercial and critical success in Japan, having sold over 200,000 copies in its first week on the market which ultimately added up to over 2 million copies by 2008, making it one of the best-selling titles in Ace Combat series alongside 2001's Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies. Its addictive arcade-like gameplay was praised by critics while the negative criticism was primarily aimed at the graphics that were considered unappealing even at the time of the game's original release. Air Combat's success was great enough to let it spawn a frachise of its own which became known as Ace Combat after the release of the second game in the series in 1997 with Ace Combat remaining popular, having released multiple mainline sequel and prequel games, spin-offs and other forms of media since 1995, latest of the mainline games being Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown released for PCs and 8th generation consoles in 2019.
Story of the game takes place within a fictional world called Strangeral and follows Phoenix, a mercenary fighter pilot and a member of the Scarface Squadron, a squadron of mercenary fighter pilots hired by the government of Usean Federation in order to assist them with retaking of the Skully Islands, an island chain under Usean jurisdiction that had been overtaken by the terrorist forces in coup d'etat six months prior, squadron's mission being to carry out a precision strikes against terrorists' resources and weapons in order to force them to surrender with minimal civillian casualties, the squadron's first objective being to saboatage the terrorists' supply lines by intercepting and shooting down a squadron of transport planes under their command....
