Having consulted witch doctors, exorcists and the latest KSP patch, we manage to revive our astronauts from their zombie state. Of course, we don't really know what happened to them, or if they are really... them. Did Bill Kerman really come back from the Minmus Phenomenon, or was it SOMETHING ELSE...
Not that we care, as long as Bill can still fly the spaceplane.
However, we have a bigger problem to worry about. At present, travel to Minmus is exclusively an affair for well-heeled adventurers with a high tolerance for physical discomfort. Trapped in a confined space for four days coming and going, pooping and pissing their space diapers all the while, space tourism can hardly be considered to have gone "mainstream". We want to change all that and make it possible to ferry tourists in spaciousness and comfort, with actually in-flight bathrooms and food service and stuff. To achieve that, we will need a new breakthrough in technology.
And to achieve that breakthrough in Single-Stage-To-Minmus technology, many brave test pilots are lining up to put their lives on the line. The attrition rate in spaceplane testing is pretty damn fierce...
