AJ Walks Auckland - Domain in Autumn, Park Road to Duck Pond
2Taking advantage of a break in the weather and being convenient to the large Auckland Domain. Unfortunately the bright clouds wash out the image in places, but hopefully the colours of the leaves still stand out well enough.
The Auckland Domain is one of the largest parks in the city, and the oldest official park area. Like many of the prominent green spaces in the city area, it is the remains of an old volcanic cone, where the sports fields are the old crater floor, as is the duck ponds that we end at. The War Memorial Museum sits atop the old crater rim, opposite Auckland Hospital.
