[Akai Katana/赤い刀] Shin Type A ALL Clear (Score: 469,458,293) [CC Commentary]
Akai Katana Arcade is pretty flawed in many aspects including its rushed sadism, so Akai Katana Shin was made. Nerfed patterns, buffed up shots and completely different way the Soul Shift and scoring work. This is the arrangement held most dearly and yeah, it feels the most at home among CAVE games. And with how things work the nerfs make much more sense and makes it easier to appreciate the patterns themselves. I love this.
I've explained the major differences between Arcade and Zetsu. Between Zetsu and Shin, there is certainly a confirmation that you can access the TLB by not dying until Stage 7, which while for Akai Katana Shin is not a hard task, it's still time consuming especially as you reach the Stage 6 boss which not only demands you to ration bombs which is easier said than done, the duration is around 26 minutes! That's demanding!
The way Soul Shift works also completely differs. In Soul Shift you won't absorb or deflect any bullets, and you won't be invincible in defense mode though taking a hit doesn't mean death, just the Guidance Gauge get cut down like a normal HP bar. The rapid shot also gets buffed and in a radius, remember the radius, not all bullets, enemy bullets get slowed down, Espgaluda style. Which makes the game far more intuitive, actually! But no cheesing with complete i-frames so you still need to dodge them. Oh, popcorns you destroy with Attack mode laser will shoot out counter bullets, which... sounds as dangerous as you can guess! Espgaluda II, is that you!?
In exchange, you have a good lot of bullet clearer tools you can charge up. First, the magatama orbs that you can charge by destroying stuff with the rapid shot, and the swords in Soul Shift mode that you can charge by destroying stuff with the focus shot and the magatama orbs. However, to fire off the swords you need to deactivate your Soul Shift manually. Let's be honest here, the accumulation of the counter bullets get so insane it's best to just cancel them out with the accumulated katanas. Preparing for the magatama orbs if you're focusing for safety is more important.
Type A is the most orthodox. No lock on, no spread, no snaps. Just a trace-movement option and it'll stay in place when you go focus shot. Not the best, but certainly still reliable.
Shin is a wonderful Arrange Mode. It's the best mode to appreciate the game as a bullet hell game as raw as possible like the usual CAVE games. Play it!
This is the Nintendo Switch port.
