Alan makes it to the gas station where he calls the cops. Shortly after the town's Sheriff - Sarah Breaker shows up. Alan hides the truth of what has happened to avoid being seen as a nutcase, but tells Sarah of his missing wife. Episode 1.. finished.
Episode 2 begins with a flash back to when Alan and Alice had a romantic night in as a storm raged outside, but the flashback soon ends and we're back in present time. Now inside the police station giving Sarah details on what happened. But Alan gets a call from an unknown person telling him to head out back to a burned out truck. There Alan finds Alice's driver's license before heading back in where we meet up with his agent - Barry.

The story follows best-selling thriller novelist Alan Wake, as he tries to uncover the mystery behind his wife's disappearance during a vacation in the small fictional town of Bright Falls, Washington, all while experiencing events from the plot in his latest novel, which he cannot remember writing, coming to life.
