Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX Let's Play | Steviecomebacks
I play games poorly!
Developed by Merge Games and Jankenteam, this is a remake of the Sega Master System classic. Updated visuals and optional quality of life improvements such as unlimited lives and a tighter hit box. It also features new levels, new NPCs, alternate boss fights, and the ability to change between modern or retro style 8-bit graphics.
Man, this game tested my patience. I tried to play it as is but as I was quickly losing my mind due to Alex's extremely slippery movements, unfair enemy placement and nearly impossible jumps, I began turning on the quality-of-life improvements one by one which to the developers credit, made the game much more tolerable. To be fair, I never played the original so my nostalgia for Alex Kidd is nonexistent which probably hampered my enjoyment a bit. The visuals are beautiful even in it's original 8-bit form. The Master System color palate doesn't get talked about enough, but you can see it in full in the game. For the most part the audio was solid but there were times it felt a bit off in places, mainly the sound effects but that could've just been me.
I played through this game on my Twitch channel, https://www.twitch.tv/steviecomebacks
Played on Nintendo Switch.
