Alexander Griboyedov - Woe from Wit - And who are the judges (Chatsky's monologue) | Poetry
I'm reading the fragment of Chatsky's monologue "Who are the judges" from Alexander Griboyedov's comedy in verse "Woe from Wit" to the music Asher Fulero - Night Snow.
This monologue is an immortal classic! A vivid expression of the conflict between the "present age" and the "past age", as well as a sharp satire against a society mired in hypocrisy, corruption and stagnation. The hero condemns the older generation for its servility to the authorities, greed, moral decay and fear of progress. Chatsky contrasts such "judges" - brave young people striving for freedom, knowledge and art, whom society brands as "dangerous dreamers".
Also I suggest paying attention to the translation of the poem into English. This time I tried maintaining rhythm and rhyme. And ChatGPT helped me with this. :)
