Alien: Brilliantly simple, Subtly complex
I ramble about Alien, one of my favourite films for ~10 minutes.
The audio is pretty bad here, this one was done before the first two on this channel but for copyright and content ID reasons didn't go up until now, and only did so in a newly altered form. Future videos should not have the issues this one did as since making this video I have learned quite a bit.
I had a lot of fun with the title sequence, trying to play off Alien's incredible title sequence without just copying it or making the intro too long. I wanted to talk about the opening sequence/ title sequence but this post does a far better job than I could have and goes into extreme detail with the film's typography in general, check it out here http://typesetinthefuture.com/alien/
If you want to read about Alien from a feminist perspective this is a nice little write up http://thelearnedfangirl.com/2012/06/how-i-learned-to-stop-worrying-and-love-ripley-a-feminist-nerd-finally-watches-alien/
I also feel somewhat uncomfortable putting this video into the education category, but that's where all the other big (and better) film analyses are so I guess I'll follow suit.
