This is the Steam version of the 1999 original on the PC, but I still do own the disk version of this game as it was actually the very first PC game I ever owned and played. I really wanted to play the Jaguar version as a kid, so when my family finally got a Compaq PC around the year 2000, I jumped at the chance to play this game. I still love this game, even if I can admit that it's not the most technically advanced, nor deeply designed FPS game, even for it's time.
The level designs themselves lack the complexity of games like Quake or Unreal, No hidden areas to find, not a huge arsenal of guns for the marine, or Predator, and nothing to intricate in the designs, but man, I still love this game, especially in the area of atmosphere, and just cool factor of being to play through each species' specific campaign.
Right from the start, players have the option to play either the Marine, Predator, or Alien single player campaign, and while it has been years since I have beaten all three, I remember them feeling kind of short, but I could be wrong. I'll know when I finally play through each campaign again.
As you may expect, the human is the biggest wimp, that has the best atmosphere in their campaign, the Predator is a walking tank, and is the best equipped to kill humans and Xenomorphs, and the Alien's campaign, and controls are the weirdest, and can possibly give you motion sickness, but offers the fastest, and most freedom of movement.
I have always wanted to get the Sequel to this game, and have yet to do it. While AvP2 Gold isn't on Steam, I think it is on Gog, but don't quote me on that, but I can also buy the disk version, and play it on my Windows XP rig I built a while back.
