20The Creaking door was an old time radio series of horror, thriller and suspense shows originating in South Africa. The series first aired in 1964-1965 and it is modeled after the American Radio show the Inner Sanctum (which is loved by fans of OTR). It was sponsored by 3/5 Cigarettes and in my rendition all of these adds have been tastefully replaced. This episode Alive in the Grave first aired in 1964. I have always been a fan of classic cinema, radio and theater along with a slew of modern works. I originally was going to do this as an audio only work (OTR Tribute) but decided it could be more and gave this classic new life with an organic approach with a touch of humor. I've always found the concept of one person shows to be fascinating but unless its a long monologue the execution usually leaves a lot to be desired. Leaving YouTube to be the perfect execution for this project. I took my warped mind and combined the one person show, theater, radio drama's/OTR with my own unique flair to create this massive 4 episode mini series for you all to enjoy. I tried to honor the source material and stayed as close to the original script as possible and I hope you enjoy this reimagining and fusion that I've created for your enjoyment.
In the last episode Joe was caught by the cemeteries caretaker in a recently buried grave in which he opened in order to save the man's life, who has been dead for days at this point according to the caretaker. Joe recounts his tale about how him and his wife Lil have been on hard times since he fell ill and lost his job at the factory. Up until Joe finding the fat man (small spoiler: Harold Maxstead) and witnessing him die? and he made the decision to pilfer the man's wallet. The story continues with Joe returning home to Lil in Joy with the money he just obtained.
