🔴All 5 Michael Bay Horror Movie Remakes, Ranked Worst To Best🔴
Although Michael Bay is primarily known as a director of big-budget, action-heavy blockbusters, the Los Angeles-born director has also established himself as a major name in horror thanks to his Platinum Dunes production studio. In the early 21st century, Bay and Platinum Dunes set out to remake and reimagine several iconic horror franchises, starting a divisive trend that would see most major IPs receiving updates that many perceived as unnecessary. While Bay is not responsible for every misguided revamp, he and his studio were behind five of the most notorious – and successful.
The horror movie remake trend began in earnest with Bay's 2003 feature, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. A bleak and bloody evolution of Tobe Hooper's legendary original, the movie was a huge financial success – prompting Platinum Dunes to seek out other remake opportunities. Over the next seven years, four further remakes would follow – The Amityville Horror (2005), The Hitcher (2007), Friday the 13th (2009), and A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010). All five Platinum Dunes movies received generally negative reviews from critics. However, despite their flaws, some Michael Bay horror remakes avoided disaster and even brought something new to the table.
