All battles against Team Rocket's boss and the Viridian City Gym Leader, Giovanni.

They gave Team Rocket as a whole more of an overall presence in these games. The Cubone side story was a nice touch, and actually gave you a purpose for seeking out Team Rocket once you left Lavender Town. It was nice. Still kind of a weak story overall, but it is what it is.

What really bothers me is that in Kanto games Team Rocket STILL doesn't have their theme. I get that in the original games everyone aside from Gym Leaders and the Champion used the Trainer theme, but still. They've had several renditions done of their theme, and they still go without it? Not even a menacing sounding Trainer theme? Kind of takes the gravity away from fighting the big bad boss of the game with same music that plays for Youngsters.
