More Power Tool Dragon Shenanigans | Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links
"Machine and might combine to bring peace to the world! I Synchro Summon! The monster with some major motor! Power Tool Dragon!"
So, seeing as how well (compared to the other Duel Links videos I've done) the previous video is doing, I decided to do a follow up to my Power Tool Dragon Genex deck. This is the final build I think I can muster up for it, it's far more consistent than before, but can still brick from time to time. (eg hand full of Equips only). I won't make any more videos for it unless we get Power Tool outside of Leo's skill or better support in general.
After beefing up the deck a bit I ended up facing a lot more meta and higher tier decks than expected. Fur Hire isn't an issue for this deck at all. Not unless they have one of the usual traps face down to stop you from making plays, but that's with any deck. I've yet to fight Spellbooks, but seeing as how we only have 1 Power Tool atm I doubt they'd have trouble with the deck. Anyhow, the main issue is the dreaded Amazons. If that deck didn't exist then honestly this deck might stand a subpar chance in the meta. But, I digress. It was made for fun, so that's what I'm doing with it. Hope you enjoy it.
0:00 - Fur Hire/Skill:NA
-Not sure why he was running Mako, forgot to check the skill he was using.
1:45 - Unorthodox Amazons / Skill: Fields of Warriors
-I saw some Amazon cards I never see, so I decided to stick with this duel instead of quitting instantly. I got lucky.
3:43 - Fur Hire / Skill: The Tie that Binds
-Proper Fur Hires this time. Seeing Yugi or Jesse usually ends up being this deck, but honestly I don't mind. Fur Hires are strong, but they're not Amazons.
5:40 - Parasitic Stall / Parasite Infestation
-I hate this deck. Then again I hate stall decks. I misplayed here and summoned a monster instead of using Galaxy Cyclone and attacking. This deck does fine against stall due to having a monster that can attack twice, so it avoids Lava Golem and beats them down fairly well.
8:28 - Fur Hire / Skill: Power of the Tributed
This was weird. He was running Ra and Lava Golem, which seems to be gaining popularity as of late, but w/e.
10:39 - Mermails / Skill Not Set
-It's possible this guy was leveling Zane to get Cyber Style, I don't see why he wouldn't be using that, but I know nothing of how Mermails function in this game, so meh. Really I think this boiled down to him not reading Power Tool.
12:27 - Blue-Eyes / Peak Performance
-Not sure why he was running Peak Performance instead of Beatdown, but w/e floats your boat. Still, this one wasn't too bad. Top decked for the win, really.
14:32 - Amazons / Skill: Restart
I decided to stay for this one, didn't even summon Power Tool but it always feels nice to beat these fuckers.
15:57 - Inzektors / Skill: Beatdown
-This one was just funny. I was hoping for a good Equip vs. Equip deck, but he didn't read Gravity Blaster, so he practically killed himself.
Deck List:
I know people usually put Deck Lists at the end, start, or somewhere on the video, but I don't want to do that. So, I'll add any deck I use in these videos to the description like so.
Monsters:
x1 Morphtronic Videon
x1 Genex Searcher
x2 R-Genex Accelerator
x3 Mechanicalchaser
x3 Genex Controller
Spells:
x3 Unexpected Dai
x1 Galaxy Cyclone
x3 Gravity Blaster
x2 Air Cracking Storm
Traps:
x2 Pulse Mines
x1 Wall of Disruption
Replaced mid video:
Genex Neutron - Replaced with Genex Searcher
--Neutron is slower, adding to the hand rather than summon. Searcher can be used for better plays, especially earlier in the duel.
Unfortunately, the way I play the deck you need 3 Dai for easy Synchro summing. Without it, there's not much you can do but try to stall, and this deck isn't really built for that, especially considering 2 extra cards are added due to Courage and Strength. The deck is normally at 23, but the skill bumps it to 25. Remoten is usually a bad card to draw into.
The main 2 equips you're always going to want on hand is Gravity Blaster and Air Cracking Storm. Gravity Blaster is an extra layer of protection that offers a permanent attack boost even after being destroyed, and negates things like Flip effects and battle effects like Amazoness Swordswoman. Air Cracking Storm is there to make Power Tool attack twice, meaning you'll take less of a hit from cards like Wall of Disruption.
TTH, Canadia, and Floodgate are all horrible to run into. But that's a given. The deck can't do much against Amazons since their trap doesn't destroy, it just banishes. If you see an Odion, you might as well just quit. Most match ups are fine, assuming you can get Power Tool out quickly.
Only 3 Traps due to limited field space. Wall of Disruption can easily be subbed with any other staple, just depends on the preference. Any of them can help make opening plays. The deck is entirely machines, so why not run Pulse Mines at 2?
